Taxes Refunded Over Misread Property Value Error
The Sullivan Times reports Theo Lisman of Haddon township had taxes paid on 1100 instead of 110 due to a markings error by a real estate appraiser and auditor. Over four years the total overpayment would be about 50, but the county has agreed to refund all taxes erroneously paid, and Lisman will receive the amount.

Sunday Fires In Town Cause Quick Alarm
Early Sunday morning a fire bell rung loudly waking residents as sparks from a flue ignited Homer Davis’s roof in the west part of town. High winds fueled the blaze but it was extinguished with little damage before the fire department arrived. Around noon Dr. J. R. Whalen’s residence caught fire from burning soot in a flue and was put out before serious damage occurred.

Jury rules Rush Wolfe not slandered in Indiana suit
Rush Wolfe failed to prove Mary A. Wolfe defamed him by alleging he stole corn. The Sullivan circuit court awarded no damages in the 5000 dollar slander case after testimony from witnesses and attorneys Haughton Amison of Vincennes and Lindley of Sullivan.
