Suit Over Damaged Cow Seeks 200 Dollars

William L. Graham of Sullivan county sues Abram G. Cox a veterinary surgeon and township trustee in Sullivan circuit court alleging he bought a cow for 45 dollars in December 1900 that proved to be diseased with cancer. He seeks 200 dollars in damages noting the cow roamed Carlisle while the case proceeds. Buff and Bays represent the plaintiff. The cow was returned but payment not recovered and was removed from Cox’s lot.

Noted Carlisle native George D Herron divorced in Algona Iowa

George D Herron once a Carlisle resident and Grinnell College professor, later founder of a new religious system, has been divorced from his wife at Algona Iowa. The suit filed by Mrs Herron alleged desertion and no defense was offered by Mr Herron. Herron left Carlisle in 1882 at age 16, a memory still kept by locals.

State case against Tom Neeves postponed for trial

The Neeves case for injuring an apple tree on Jacob Eslinger's land was set for 10 o'clock last Saturday before A. BR. Martin, Esq. at Sullivan. A large number of witnesses appeared but the case was postponed until Friday April 12 due to the absence of two defense witnesses Pifer and Eslinger.
