Bon County board met Monday to set levies for 1966. Work behind schedule due to re valuation adjustments required by the legislature. The plan calls for the property tax to raise the same revenue despite higher real estate valuations over a four year period. The board aims to finalize the assessment and levy to cover next week's tax bills.
Malad finals lineup altered by Seda High School officials. The event now starts at 7 30 p m instead of 1 20 p m. Fans planning trips to Malad should note the new evening start.
The Sun informs Caribou County residents that nomination petitions for Perry Swisher for Governor are available at the Caribou County Auditor's office for signing. Signers must not have voted in the August 2, 1966 Primary Election.
Enrollment in School District No. 150 for Soda Springs and Wayan rose by 95 students from the 1965 start. High school totals grew to 345 from 311, junior high to 328, Soda Elementary 520, and district-wide enrollment reached 1288 with Grays Lake and Freedom contributing 125 and 70 respectively.
Charles Christiansen announced Louise Shadduck head of Idaho Commerce and Development would address the Soda Springs Chamber of Commerce meeting on Thursday at 12 noon. The luncheon at Idaho Cafe urged a large turnout with guests.
Ray H Willy named Executive Director of the Idaho Heart Association announced in Boise by Donald L Harris of Caldwell. Willy has 22 months as field director, aiding public education and fundraising. He leaves Sept 16 for an American Heart Association staff conference in New York City. He is a Boise native, married to Imogene, with two children.
Miss Dianne Rowberry daughter of Mr and Mrs Elmo Rowberry of Soda Springs left Monday for Kent Ohio after receiving a VRA traineeship grant to pursue her masters in Speech Pathology at Kent State University. A 1962 Soda Springs high school graduate she earned a BA in speech pathology at Idaho State University last June.
Soda Springs students who left for the University of Idaho in Moscow during the past week are Steve Warner son of Mr and Mrs Perry Warner Allan Shuler son of Mr and Mrs George Shuler at Balls son of Mr and Mrs V C Balls Bruce Thomas son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Thomas and Wanda Jean Sorensen daughter of Mr and Mrs Elton Sorensen.
U of W students leaving Soda Springs last week to attend the University of Wyoming at Laramie include Brain Daly son of Mr and Mrs T J Daly Allen Ray Tigert son of Dr and Mrs Allen Tigert and Tony and Sadie Tigert son and daughter of Dr and Mrs Russell Tigert. People are like coffee they perk up when they get in hot water.
Caribou County expands fleet by adding two diesel trucks and selling four gasoline units. The switch to diesel aims at cost savings, with three month operation costs showing diesels at 2496 against 7872 for gas. Wages and fuel figures favor diesel, plus repairs on gas trucks estimated at 2960. The new diesels offer greater capacity for county road haulage.
Soda Springs hosts the sixth annual Punt Pass and Kick with entrants aged eight to 13. Register at Lakeview Motors through October 7, free booklet by Gary Collins Rudy Bukich and Fred Cox, PP&E pins awarded, prizes up through regional and district levels leading to a Tour of Champions with NFL ties.
Harold V Romero of Soda Springs registered last week at Rolla School of Science in Rolla Missouri to pursue a master’s degree in science. A Soda Springs High School graduate, he earned a BS in physics from Utah State University last spring. He was injured in a car accident near Preston two weeks ago and spent four days in Preston hospital with bruises head lacerations and broken ribs before enrolling. He is a son of Victor Romero of Soda Springs.
Ellis L Williams Soda Springs School District announces 1966 67 staff lists. High School principals and department heads named with multiple teachers for English biology P E math science and guidance. Junior High and elementary rosters include administrators grade teachers and specialists across subjects.
ISU students Carla Weaver and Kaye Haga join Joanne Cook and LaRae Panting as they travel Sunday to Pocatello to attend Idaho State University.
The 12 finalists and their parents advance to the Orange Bowl in Miami to compete for national PP&E championships. The event is sponsored nationwide by Ford Dealers and the NFL, with Lakeview Motors backing in Soda Springs.
The Civitan Club in Soda Springs will receive its charter on Saturday night September 17 with 26 charter members. Officers include Guy R. Smith as president and Clyde Hamp as first vice president along with LeRoy Brown Roy Bennion LeRoy Hammond Alfred MacAllister and others. Charter night at Cedar View Supper Club features James E B Simmons governor and Dr Howard D. Miller as speaker as East Idaho Civitan members attend.
D. W. Grimm, agent of Farmers Insurance Group, received a 30 year award presented by Wes Christiansen, Division Agency Manager. The tie-bar or bracelet honors mark long service with the company. 5 10 15 20 and 25 year awards are also given.
Soda Springs High School reports that two thirds of the 51 seniors will attend college or enroll soon. Of the class, 34 pursue advanced education at Brigham Young University College of Idaho College of Southern Idaho Idaho State University Ricks College University of Oregon University of Utah University of Wyoming Weber State Denver Electronics Institute. Others not attending include four in the Armed Service ten working two marry one church mission.
