Commissioners to Vote On Levies for 1966 Budget

Bon County board met Monday to set levies for 1966. Work behind schedule due to re valuation adjustments required by the legislature. The plan calls for the property tax to raise the same revenue despite higher real estate valuations over a four year period. The board aims to finalize the assessment and levy to cover next week's tax bills.

The Sun informs Caribou County residents that nomination petitions for Perry Swisher for Governor are available at the Caribou County Auditor's office for signing. Signers must not have voted in the August 2, 1966 Primary Election.

Enrollment Jump Near 100 in Soda Springs District

Enrollment in School District No. 150 for Soda Springs and Wayan rose by 95 students from the 1965 start. High school totals grew to 345 from 311, junior high to 328, Soda Elementary 520, and district-wide enrollment reached 1288 with Grays Lake and Freedom contributing 125 and 70 respectively.

Louise Shadduck to Speak at Soda Springs Chamber

Charles Christiansen announced Louise Shadduck head of Idaho Commerce and Development would address the Soda Springs Chamber of Commerce meeting on Thursday at 12 noon. The luncheon at Idaho Cafe urged a large turnout with guests.

Executive Director Named For Idaho Heart Fund

Ray H Willy named Executive Director of the Idaho Heart Association announced in Boise by Donald L Harris of Caldwell. Willy has 22 months as field director, aiding public education and fundraising. He leaves Sept 16 for an American Heart Association staff conference in New York City. He is a Boise native, married to Imogene, with two children.

Soda Springs Student Receives VRA Traineeship Grant

Miss Dianne Rowberry daughter of Mr and Mrs Elmo Rowberry of Soda Springs left Monday for Kent Ohio after receiving a VRA traineeship grant to pursue her masters in Speech Pathology at Kent State University. A 1962 Soda Springs high school graduate she earned a BA in speech pathology at Idaho State University last June.

County Acquires Two Diesel Trucks Under Lease-Purchase Plan

Caribou County expands fleet by adding two diesel trucks and selling four gasoline units. The switch to diesel aims at cost savings, with three month operation costs showing diesels at 2496 against 7872 for gas. Wages and fuel figures favor diesel, plus repairs on gas trucks estimated at 2960. The new diesels offer greater capacity for county road haulage.

Harold V Romero Enrolls in Missouri Science Master’s Program

Harold V Romero of Soda Springs registered last week at Rolla School of Science in Rolla Missouri to pursue a master’s degree in science. A Soda Springs High School graduate, he earned a BS in physics from Utah State University last spring. He was injured in a car accident near Preston two weeks ago and spent four days in Preston hospital with bruises head lacerations and broken ribs before enrolling. He is a son of Victor Romero of Soda Springs.

Two Thirds of Soda Graduates Enter College

Soda Springs High School reports that two thirds of the 51 seniors will attend college or enroll soon. Of the class, 34 pursue advanced education at Brigham Young University College of Idaho College of Southern Idaho Idaho State University Ricks College University of Oregon University of Utah University of Wyoming Weber State Denver Electronics Institute. Others not attending include four in the Armed Service ten working two marry one church mission.
