Ice Harbor steelhead near record counts amid state season plan

Nearly 70 000 steelhead have been counted at Ice Harbor Dam since July 1, with 1963’s 72 000 as the previous second high mark. The run, aided by better water, may top the all time high of 108 000 in 1962 as the season extends to June 30. Bonneville shows weak A group and below average B group runs. Hunter card returns indicate higher deer and elk kills than last year, though figures are partial. The Idaho Fish and Game Commission set 1968 fishing seasons and regulations through December 31 with many year round or special waters continuing.
