Farmers in the Bancroft Central-Chesterfield region vote to pursue a rain making project. A county meeting in Lode Springs formed a functioning backup and scheduled an organizational meeting for Monday May 9 at 9 p.m. in the High Auditorium to elect a board of directors and plan the project.
Soda Springs grade school students and teachers scheduled end of year outings. Eighth graders with Ralph Taylor and LaDell Porter will travel by train to Pocatello then tour Union Pacific depot, Idaho State College areas, Naval ordinance depot, and Lava Hot Springs before returning. Mrs. Lena Marietta Christen Baker 91, Idaho pioneer and Soda Springs’ first child, died in Blackfoot at her daughter’s home Mrs. Avian Parsons. Funeral held Wednesday at Ruth Ward LDS Chapel with Wayne Smith officiating. burial in Grove City Cemetery, Blackfoot, under Howard Packham Mortuary direction.

Idaho Natural Gas Company president George W ter says a Pacific Northwest Pipeline schedule would put natural gas service in 83 Southern Idaho communities including Soda Springs by fall. After arranging financing for a 163 million dollar pipeline from the San Juan Basin to Haaho Oregon Williams plans rapid pipe laying to reach Pocatello Maga Valley and western Idaho with delivery possibly starting in October. Local officials urge prompt action to avoid winter delays and accelerate system completion.
