Bear River Indoor Arena Planned for Caribou County

A Caribou County group plans to build the Bear River Indoor Multipurpose Arena 65 by 200 feet with restrooms grandstands and concession areas. Bill Nielsen will be president, Tom Lloyd vice president, and Buzz Shahan secretary treasurer. Construction starts when weather permits and site chosen with a planning meeting set for Tuesday March 27 at 7 90 p.m. at Tay's.

School Trustee Election Set for Zone Three in Soda Springs

The Board of Trustees of Joint School District No 150 schedules the annual trustee election for Zone Three on April 24 with polling at Soda Springs High School from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Clarke Brown will not seek reelection. petitions due by April 5 at 5:00 pm. only Zone Three residents may vote.

Grain Growers Set On New Barley Varieties Discussion

A Grain Growers meeting is set for Wednesday March 28 at 1 30 p m in the basement of the Caribou County Court House. Parall Wesenberg an Aberdeen Experiment Station agronomist will discuss new barley varieties and their uses in the area and the barley nursery. Vernon Shawpeis an area salesman for Avedex will cover wild oat control chemical use and application. Farmers and others interested in grain information are invited to attend.

Discard Book Sale At Hooper Elementary School

Principal Carl Wallin announces over 1000 discard but usable books from all elementary grades and subjects for ten cents per book. Parents may select books at Hooper Elementary School to aid home study or supplementary learning for their children.

Public Hearing For Snowmobilers In Caribou County

A public hearing for all registered snowmobilers in Caribou County is set for Thursday March 29 at 8 p.m. in the Caribou County Courthouse Courtroom to discuss proposed expenditures of snowmobile funds. In other notes, Roger Call earned his high school diploma while serving in the Air Force and is stationed at McChord Air Force Base with his wife Wannetta.

Utah man guilty of altering stream channel near Tincup Creek

Wayne Baker of Price Utah was tried in Soda Springs District Court for a misdemeanor for altering the channel of Tincup Creek near November 1962 16 without a permit from the Idaho Department of Water Administration. Evidence included witness testimony and photos showing a gravel bar removed by tractor work. The case featured six jurors and Judge Genevieve Young presiding.

Soda Springs Girls State Delegates Chosen

Soda Springs High School selects Anne Corbridge and Pam Steffensen as delegation representatives to Girls State at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa Idaho June 17 to 23 1973 with Ruth Ann Balls as alternate. Tea and preparatory events were hosted at the Soda Springs High School with auxiliary members and mothers in attendance. Cleve Morgan provided a gift certificate to aid financing for the participants.

Planning Commission Hears Bailey Creek Subdivision Plans

Caribou County Regional Planning Commission met in Soda Springs March 14 to review Bailey Creek Subdivision plans. Sherm Smith and Al Anderson presented. the project includes 742 half acre lots 147 parcels of 2.4 to 5 acres and 105 condo units. Terracor will build roads and water system costing about 430 000 funded by buyers. A Red Fox protection issue was discussed with Idaho Fish and Game. a bill to classify foxes as game animals may be pursued.

Certified Seed Potato Growers To Meet Friday

The District Certified Seed Potato Growers will hold a meeting Friday March 23 at 7 30 p m at Grace High School. Growers are urged to attend to discuss California seed plot readings the virus free potato program and bulk seed truck tagging issues in Caribou County. Earl Spencer Garner, Blackfoot area potato extension agent, will address new Idaho Crop Regulations changes on certified seed potatoes.

Pre-Natal Classes Scheduled at Caribou Memorial Hospital

The first in a series of prenatal classes for expectant parents will begin Wednesday April 4 at 3:30 pm in the Caribou Memorial Hospital classroom. Mrs Rosemary Hoffman RN of the Southeastern District Health Department will direct, with Mrs Charlene Clarenshaw RN assisting. Topics include pregnancy anatomy fetal development nutrition labor delivery and newborn care. Pre-registration is not required.

One-Act Plays At North Gem Friday Night

North Gem High School Drama Department presents four one-act plays on Friday March 23 at 7 30 pm titled A Night of Drama. Director James Thomas previously staged Nuts and Bolts to a full house.
