City election rules set filing windows and signatures requirements. Petitions require six signers from each candidate’s precinct, with all certificates signed by the candidate and secretary, noting qualifications and residence. Precincts defined by First South Street, with notices in Caribou County Sun starting March 17.
Caribou County commissioners announced a snow clearing policy focusing on public routes. It states school roads and mall routes will be opened before any private hay stack roads or other routes.

Ernest Hopkins a Soda Springs native and 39 year old Pocatello resident died Saturday after a long illness. Born May 29 1915 he was a son of Samuel and Rosina Reber Hopkins. He worked for Cahoon Construction, married Margaret Woodworth in 1939 and had two children Judith Ann and Wayne. He belonged to the Pocatello Carpenters Union and Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife two children six sisters and one brother. Funeral held in Pocatello with services at Down ard chapel and burial at Mountain View cemetery by the Loyal Order of Moose lodge.

Clarence Bolton Vernal Hopkins Albert Christman George Curtis Golden Roper James Weaver Gul Humphreys Lloyd Darricott named to Seventy.

Vance T Lakey a Soda Springs homesteader and Idaho rancher died in Nampa at 78 after ill health. Born December 24 1876 in Etna North Carolina he moved to Idaho in 1900. He married Anna Nelson April 18 1902 in Soda Springs and later lived in Hunters Washington and Nampa where funeral services were held. He is survived by his wife four daughters two brothers a sister and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George R. Revoir and Jay D. Thomas were involved in a minor accident on Grace Street. Revoir was pulling from Grace Equipment and Thomas was backing from a private driveway when the cars collided. Thomas reported about $40 damage to his car.

The fishermen Chris Phelps and Walker caught two blue marlins near Mazatlan Mexico about 600 miles from the border. Each fish weighs around 100 pounds. They were fishing about 20 miles offshore using 0-10 reels and seven test line.
Francis Peterson, March of Dimes chairman for Caribou County, reports a polio drive total of 4042.15 with some funds still to be turned in. Breakdown shows schools 270.90, headquarter gifts 40, house-to-house 985, funds 2267.48, coffee day 75.40, raffles 93.88, auctions 844.30, and other events 197.28. Expenses totaled 202.35 for insurance, auction costs, posters, handbills, and National Foundation supplies.
Contracts for seven miles of river road work are prepared with two segments, from Larkin-Bridge to Niter Junction costing about 15000 dollars and from Niter Junction to Grace Turner Bridge costing about 60000 dollars. Final bids hinge on acquiring two parcels of right of way and fence relocation compensation.
