Agricultural Conservation Program Opens March 11

Lester Hansen, chairman of the County ASCS Committee, announces the 1963 regular Agricultural Conservation Program will open March 11, 1963. The program and practices mirror 1962. Producers should review plans and request help only on feasible practices. Applications for cost sharing must be filed at the county office before work begins. Practice specifications are available at the County ASCS Office.

L D S church leaders Jennie R Scott from the Relief Society General Board and Adena Nell S Gourley from the Primary Association General Board will attend the Idaho Stake quarterly conference in Soda Springs on March 9 and 10. General sessions Sunday will be led by Stake President Wilford John Dredge with public attendance welcomed at 10 09 a.m. and 1 30 p.m.

Farm and Home Institute Held at Soda Springs Idaho

The Farm and Home Institute sponsored by Caribou County Farm Bureau and Extension Service was held February 27 at the Idaho Cafe in Soda Springs. Attendees enjoyed dinner for about 75 people, a notable program, and door prizes donated by county merchants. The Farm Bureau and Extension office thank all who contributed to a successful event.

Richard Whitworth a seaman apprentice in the US Navy and son of Mr and Mrs FL Whitworth of Bancroft Idaho serves aboard the dock landing ship USS Thomaston in the Pacific Fleet Amphibious Force. The unit celebrates its 21st anniversary this month, reflecting on amphibious assault in World War II and across the Pacific. The celebration theme is The Amphibious Force 21 years as Freedom's advance.

Fire destroys building at vanadium plant in Soda Springs area

A fire of undetermined origin burned a small labor craft building at Westen Knapp Engineering Company north of Soda Springs Sunday evening. A Western Knapp employee across the highway at Monsan to Chemical Company spotted the flames about 8 00 pm and alerted officials. The structure was destroyed but other nearby buildings suffered no damage as fire was kept under control by Construction Superintendent Don Conyers.

Spring Bull Sale At Filer March 16

The 24th Annual Filer Spring Range Bull Sale sponsored by the Idaho Cattlemen's Association will be held Saturday March 16 in Filer Idaho starting at 11am. Colin McLeod Jr Caldwell manager of the sale and chairman of the State Bull Committee announced meltod noted 200 registered Hereford Shorthorn and Angus bulls ages 18 to 30 months from Idaho Oregon and Nevada breeders.

1963 Feed Grain Signup Underway

The 1963 feed grain signup is open from February 1 to March 22 at the ASCS County Office. Chairman Lester Hansen says the program covers corn, grain sorghum, and barley with payments and conservation options. Participants may receive diversion payments, price support payments, and eligibility for price support loans, with uniform nationwide payment rates.

Caribou 4-H Council Plans Spring Activities

The Caribou County 4 H Council met in February with Chairman Sam Reed. They set National 4 H Week for March 2 9 and the Leaders Recognition Dinner for March 8 with co chairs Lila Weaver and Marjorie Beans. A training committee led by Roxie Marshall Marjorie Hale and Mary Allen was formed. Maxine Lewis was named Scholarship Drive Chairman anew. Letters to recruit 4 Hers go to schools.
