Two Freedom Girls Hit by Accidental Gunfire
Two Freedom girls were injured last Saturday when a gun went off in the han a seven year old boy. Diane Draney and Barbara Weber were struck in the right arm and treated at Star Valley hospital in Afton. Sheriff Marriott said Roger Weber may have obtained his father’s gun as the Weber children were cared for. The shot came through a screen door. The Independent noted the firing appeared accidental. Investigators planned interviews with the injured children.

Four Car Crashes Mar Past Week
Four accidents were reported by the Caribou county sheriff's office this week. The first highway death of the year occurred Sunday with Renee Jorgensen of Bancroft and Rueben Ganske of Pingree killed. Other crashes involved drivers Frederick Rind lisbaker and Gerald Bunn near Bancroft with injuries to Mrs. Bunn and a total loss to the Bunn car. An instructor from Oklahoma said he fell asleep at the wheel. A separate sideswipe occurred on Highway 30 N near Soda Springs involving McGee Harris of Grace and Lois Veachseburg of Oregon. The report also notes a back ailment for Kenneth Marshall while fishing and mentions several local residents visiting and traveling over the weekend.
