Spokane Man L Kepner Dies After Long Illness
L Kepner, about 60, an employee with shand rame Depart- 1944, died in Spokane on June 30 after a long illness. Native of Rexburg area, he worked as a son officer at Soda Malad Osborne and St. and retired five years ago. Survived by widow Fred, Mullan, Warren, and a daughter Mrs Kimley of Spokane. Services were conducted Monday, July 3 at Rexburg.

Immunization Clinic Held in Caribou County
Elaine Johnson reports that the Immunization Clinic was held last Thursday morning July 5 with Allen Tigert of the County Health Office as attending physician. Public Health Nurse Mrs Colin Chester and several helpers aided. A total of 128 children and adults attended. The clinic is open to adults as well as children and meets on the first Thursday of each month from 8 to 10 a.m.

Caribou County Scouts to Attend National Explorer Conference
Young, son of Mr and Mrs Young of Grace and Lau son of Mrs Na MM of Soda Springs will represent Caribou County at the National Explorer Conference on the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus August 26 30. Fourteen delegates from the Tenday Area Council join boys from across the country under adult supervision to compete in two elective and one skill event each. About 3500 school age explorers will assemble for the event run by explorers with a steering committee setting the program.

Probation Court deals with three Soda Springs youths
Three Soda Springs youths aged 15 16 and 27 appeared before Probate Judge Harris in Juvenile Court on Tuesday July 3 1962 arraigned on grand larceny for stealing car wheels and tires. Chief of Police Dean Lloyd cited and brought them in. One youth received an indeterminate term at St Anthony detention home for a third offense. The other two were sentenced to ten days labor in the juvenile ward of the city jail restitution of stolen property and suspension of drivers licenses for four months.

Funeral services were held for Fern Burton 18 of Wayan at Soda Springs L D S church with Bishop Glade Sibbett presiding. She died July 3 from injuries after a car crash July 1 near White Horse Yukon Territory while en route to Alaska to visit sister Mrs Hen Carney. Born July 11 1946 in Soda Springs to Lyle and Benda Petersen Burton, she was to be a junior at Soda Springs High School. An active L D S member with church awards, she had served as chorister of the Y W M L A in Grays Lake Ward. Survived by parents in Wayan three brothers Glen Duane Warren and two sisters Ellen Carney of Anchorage and Lila Joy. grandparents Albin Lindstrom of Lava Hot Springs and Warren Petersen of Honeyville. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Soda Springs beat visiting Kemmerer 50 to 22 on the Soda course as Larry Shriver led low gross with 78 for Soda. Be Little led Kemmerer with 83 in a fifth meeting since 1960, Soda holds four wins. Soda Springs District Refunds Bonds for $70,000+ Savings
The Soda Springs School District approved a refunding plan with Blythe and Co of Portland at 8.3508 percent for $405,000 in bonds. The move retires the remaining 1979 maturity of the $600,000 original 1959 issue to build a new high school, lowering debt costs from 3.90 percent. Net savings to taxpayers exceed 27,847 with the new four year term versus the prior twenty year span.
