Changes announced in Farm Storage and Drying Loan Program
The USDA announced major changes to the Farm Storage and Drying Equipment Loan Program effective December 13. Storage needs will be based on one year of production, loans capped at 25 000, and no loans for silo type structures or concrete or electrical work. Interest rises to 8 percent per year, reflecting higher borrowing costs. The shifts aim to align program activity with current storage needs and reduce 1974 federal outlays.
