Snow Measurements Begin 1968 69 in Caribou District
The first snow readings of the 1968 69 season were taken December 31 by Jack Peterson of the Soil Conservation Service and Peter Johnston of the Forest Service. Three snow courses exist in the district with Samsen Ranch and China Hat showing depths of 35.3 and 13.9 inches and water contents of 7.1 and 3.5 inches respectively. The data suggest above average snow for the period. measurements help predict next year’s water supply. The work is a cooperative effort to aid locals.
