Utah Man Killed in Car-Train Collision at Ivins

Melbourne Archibald 40 of Tremonton Utah died Tuesday afternoon when his car was struck by a Union Pacific engine at Ivins crossing eight miles west of Soda Springs. Archibald owned Archibald Lease Co. in Tremonton and was visiting farmers. The train, traveling 57 mph, left the scene with the vehicle 90 feet from the crossing.

Postmaster General Winton Blount informs Grace post office official Gail Ray that bids will be invited Feb 20 to March 7, 1969 for a new postal facility on a site at Main and First Street North Grace. The lot about 12 500 square feet supports 1 949 square feet interior space plus 204 square foot platform and 8 600 square feet parking. Three Arrested On Burglary Charge Here

Three suspects including two juveniles and an adult were arrested in a burglary at the Ponderosa Tavern north of Soda Springs. Entry was by breaking a window and police recovered seven cases of beer and two and a half cartons of cigarettes. The juvenile pair from Preston and the adult from Preston face court action. the adult is held in Montpelier on another charge.

Final Plans Set for Snowmobile Rally This Weekend

The Soda Springs event features a 100 mile cross country race at 9 30 Saturday starting from Lynn Bells ranch and finishing at Stampede grounds with two fuel stops and checkpoints. A Sunday rally at the Christensen ranch Enoch Valley includes a 10 mile race speed oval and a Powder Puff Derby with points toward the West Yellowstone Roundup.
