Cardettes To Compete At District Meet

The Soda Springs High School Cardettes drill team will leave Soda Springs about 8 a m Saturday for Blackfoot to compete in the Fifth District drill meet. That evening they perform a halftime show for the ISU Gonzaga basketball game in the Mini-Dome, their second Mini-Dome appearance this year.

Hospital Auxiliary officers elected at February meeting

Caribou Memorial Hospital Auxiliary named new president Mar jean Duren at the February monthly gathering. Boots, secretary, and Sue Reagan, treasurer, were also announced. Members noted hours served by diary participants and awarded pins. Dues are two dollars yearly. Farewell events honored Doris Lansberry and Alyson Lansberry with gifts and fond tributes.

Emergency feed program for deer in Cedars area Idaho

Idaho Fish and Game reports an emergency feeding plan in the Cedars area east of Soda Springs to aid wintering deer during critical stress. High protein pellets and hay have been provided for two weeks, with Albert Christman and Loyal Hopkins hosting the feeding site and storing supplies.

Caribou County Wool Pool Keeps Strong Core Test Results

The Caribou County Wool Pool held its annual meeting at the Cedar View on Monday February 7. A lamb dinner was served as members reviewed five years of wool core test results showing percent clean wool on samples from flocks with three or more bags. Donna Reedpeeser, district Make It With Wool winner, spoke about judging. Joe Holbrook, the pool president, announced 8 yards of 100 percent wool for the top 4H Senior Clothing Project winner in 1971.

Year At Grace Business Men Meet At Lou s Cafe

The Grace Business Men’s association held a February luncheon meeting at Lou’s Cafe on Thursday February 10 at noon led by Nellie Johnson chairwoman. Minutes from the last meeting were read by Mrs Ivan Bortz. The group voted to close for Washington’s Birthday February 21 and discussed efforts to control credit abuse. Don Peterson announced Fred Van Vleet as business man of the year and presented the trophy. A request from Police Chief Herb Walters for drug abuse literature posters and equipment was tabled until March. Johnson was re-elected by acclamation. County Potato Growers Discuss Quarantine Regulations

About 35 certified seed potato growers meet in Caribou County to consider a proposed quarantine to shield a 2.5 to 3 million dollar seed potato industry from diseases such as Ring Rot and Corky Ring Spot. Airman Stephen C. Lansberry son of Mr and Mrs James E Lansberry of Soda Springs has completed the U S Air Force weapons mechanic course at Lowry AFB Colorado and will report to Mountain Home AFB Idaho for duty with a Tactical Air Command unit providing combat air support.
