Soda Springs to Host Fifth District Class A-3 Tournament
Soda Springs High School will host the Fifth District Class A-3 Basketball Tournament on Feb 25 26 27 and March 4 5 with a possible playoff March 6. Teams Fielding High School Paris North Gem Bancroft Grace West Side and Soda Springs compete with games at 7 PM and a 20 minute intermission. Admission is 1.00 for adults and 0.50 for students.

El Paso Plans 21 Mile Rail Spur to Dry Valley Mine
El Paso Natural Gas Co will build a 21 mile railroad spur from its Conda plant to Dry Valley phosphate ore reserves. The project, a multi million dollar investment, aims to produce up to 250000 tons of fertilizer annually with 90000 to 100000 tons of P2O5 output. Union Pacific will operate the line, J R Simplot Co holds spur control, and construction depends on bid timing. About 180 workers will be employed when operation begins next fall.

Soil Conservation Service and Forest Service measurements on January 28 and 29 show snow water content nearly doubling the long term average. At Gomsen Ranch, snow 51.1 inches with 14.2 inches water.
