Members of Den No 2 led by Ronald Haviland Doran Woody Allred Mike Hen Barry Robbins Sandy Keith Isles and Jerry pel performed a Christmas and Dutch Shoe Race skit. Mrs Jay Allred and Jank Hendrickson served as den ex official. Boyd Schwaneveldt chaired the event.
The LDS First Ward announces no Relief Society gathering Tuesday. Mr and Mrs F Z Real moved to 189 West 2nd to make their home.
A district court in Pocatello awarded Mrs. Mary Lou Campbell $15,000 in a $100,000 damage suit against C. H. Elle Construction Co. and Burke Horsley. W. S. Gagan and Max Larsen were absolved of blame. The piece also reports the death of Rees Dubois Gorton, 64, Soda Springs deputy county auditor, with details of funeral services and survivors.

Chief of Police Fayette Peck investigated multiple Tuesday morning crashes west of Soda Springs and around Grace Idaho. Ronald J. Neild and John S. Smith were involved in a grocery van pickup collision on an icy hill causing about 850 in damages. a second car rollover near Soda Springs produced 750 in damages. another collision near Grace caused about 650 total. Also a New Year dance announced by Stake Missionaries for Bancroft high school gym with breakfast for ages 17 to 29.
Mr. M. L. Horsley, Salt Lake City businessman and civic leader, is assigned to supervise an extensive LDS church construction program in Australia. He and Mrs. Horsley depart Jan 3 via San Francisco and Honolulu, arriving Jan 12 in Sydney. Headquarters will be in Sidney to build chapels in Brisbane, Newcastle, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and other branches.
The Elks club of Pocatello distributed 20 Christmas Cheer food baskets to needy families with Lions Club president George Dupin announcing the effort. Lions members repainted old toys for distribution as Boy Scouts canvassed the town for discarded items. Grace Osburn chaired distribution for the Elks.
The Kiwanis club of Soda Springs will install officers for 1956 at its annual installation night at the Idaho cafe on Tuesday January 3. New officers include Frank P. Hendrickson president Dr Russell Tigert vice president Don L Beck immediate past president and Scott Styles secretary treasurer. Directors slated are Theodore Allen Wm R Black Walter Bingham West Evans Ralph Horsley William Meads LeRoy Traeger Ward Young of Shelley Idaho will install.Outgoing officers and directors are listed with the ceremony to be led by Ward Young.
A board of review on December 28 at the Tom Hayes and William Conlin homes examined three candidates Evan Hayes Brent Conlin and Bart Conlin for Eagle Scout rank. Scouting officials DeVal Gillett and Valero Bennet attended with Asa Hatch conducting the proceedings.
Joe Dahman extension animal husbandman will tour Caribou county for the annual feed lot event on January 4. The morning session at 10:00 in Thatcher features the Union Pacific film Castle Country and discussions on feeding housing and general problems. The 1:30 p.m. program at Jack Gibbs ranch in Thatcher includes judging with a score card recently found by Nels Hogan.
Most local stores will close Monday for New Year observance with a two day weekend. Post office city offices courthouse and bank will also be closed. Schools start Tuesday and will makeup the day the following Saturday per Superintendent Ezra Moore.
Fire department members invite the public to the 25th annual Firemen's Ball at Soda Springs High School gym. Money from the dance supports the fire fund. Tap music and holiday novelties promise a festive sendoff for the old year and welcome for the new. RETURN TO NEW PLYMOUTH notes Mr. and Mrs. George Rinehart visiting relatives before returning home after their trip.
The city of Soda Springs annual Home Lighting Contest named Lyle Barnard’s home at 171 South Second East the winner. Santa and reindeers, an outside fireplace with stockings, candy canes, and an attractive display of Christmas lights adorned the residence. Other prize winners included homes in civic and storage divisions.
