Christmas Festival Brings Faith, Song to Local Schools

The festival opened with PTA president Linda Mickelson and Principal LeRoy Krogh. Sixth grade bands from Thatcher and Grace performed a Christmas medley. Students presented nine scripture lessons on Jesus birth with choruses, narration, and carols. Santa distributed treats as both choruses closed with Ding Dong Merrily.

Local promotion awards prizes in three weeks

More than 2000 in prizes were awarded during a three week promotion. Last Saturdays drawing named Ed Beasley of Soda Springs winning a $6 gift from Western Auto and Isaac Skinner of Soda Springs winning $5 in merchandise from Axry's Food Mart. Nicki Monk of Soda Springs received a $5 gift certificate from Blacks. Fred White of Bancroft earned a $5 gift certificate from Sanders Furniture and Mrs. Dennis Hoskins of Soda Springs took $5 in cash from the Caribou County Sun.

Telephones show big increase in Soda Springs area

In an end of year report Soda Springs area manager for Mountain Bell Ken E. Pollard said there will be over 2650 telephones in the Soda Springs area by year end 1973, a gain of more than 225 for the year. He noted 123000 invested in 1973 for wires cables and equipment and outlined future underground cables central office facilities and energy conservation efforts. Mountain Bell plans continued growth and expansion with substantial 1974 spending to meet customer needs.

Social Services Counselor Reassigned to Caribou County

DECS and Caribou County agree to share the salary of a social services counselor. Ron Harper of Montpelier will focus his duties in Caribou County as the agreement takes effect. Region VI deputy administrator Jerry Harris said staff reassignment aims to evenly serve the seven county area.

Immunization Clinic At District Health Dept Set

The northeastern District Health Department will hold an immunization clinic on Thursday for infants at 10 months and adults. Eligible participants may receive vaccines free of charge including Diphtheria Pertussis Tetanus Polio for infants and children and Diphtheria Tetanus for adults. Measles Mumps Rubella vaccines are offered with combined forms available. For more details call Public Health Nurse at 547-4375.

Basic Clothing Construction Workshop Offered by University of Idaho

The University of Idaho Extension Service will run a six week Basic Clothing Construction workshop in Caribou County starting the week of January 2. It targets women with little sewing experience and covers machine care fabric selection pattern reading cutting pressing finishing and basic garment construction including zippers. A follow up Intermediate workshop will begin afterward for more experienced sewists.

The Idaho Wool Growers Association Research Committee and University of Idaho Cooperative Extension Service sponsor a Sheep Pest Class seminar in Riley at the Ramada Inn Friday January 4. It opens 10 30 a m with talks by Elwood Rich Jim Jessen L E O Keefe Ed Duren and Hugh Homan on black fly biology control red sheep tick and biting midges as bluetongue vectors.
