UP&L Pays Large Idaho Property Tax Across 14 Counties
Utah Power and Light Co. paid half of its 1983 Caribou County property tax totaling 341,608, part of a 1,263,363 Idaho State assessment shared by 14 counties. The company expects a second half before fiscal year end, plus 127,000 income tax and an estimated 82,000 kilowatt hour production tax. Taxes are UP&L’s largest cost, taking about 21 cents of every revenue dollar.

Judge J Ray Durtschi of the Third District Court dismissed an appeal by Joint School District 148 at Grace from a State Tax Commission ruling. The school district argued Utah Power and Light Co property within the district was wrongly reduced by 609188 after depreciation.
