Former Conda Cashier Bryant Dies in Anaconda

James Ross Bryant, former Conda cashier from 1925 to 1930, died suddenly in Anaconda Montana while attending a meeting. He later was Western Credit manager for the Anaconda company and resided at Grange California. His body was returned to Orange for funeral services held Thursday.

Accident Injures Grays Lake Woman on Highway 34

Phyllis Baker of Grays Lake was head injured when the car she rode in rear ended a state truck on Highway 34, about 18 miles from Soda Springs. Driver John C. McGinty of Soda Springs escaped injury and both were en route to Soda Springs. Baker was hospitalized at Caribou County hospital for treatment.

Tax Notices Mailed On Real Property In Caribou County

Tax notices totaling 904 178 44 are mailed by Caribou County Treasurer Ralph Gorton for 1956 taxes due in 1958. The first half must be paid by December 20 to avoid penalties, with Saturday hours scheduled for convenience. At the ASC County Convention new County Committeemen and Alternates were elected for Hansen Bancroft Glen Allen Grace QOS Bybee Soda Springs and Lowell Hanson Grace. The County Committee will oversee county level administration of farm programs including ACP price supports wheat acreage allotments and marketing quotas. Ray Davis and Mansfield Picanco led ticket sales. Local merchants and wholesalers note the rising membership will make the Caribou association one of the larger sportsman groups in the state.

Snow blankets Cari Bou county for White Christmas

A foot of snow fell over Cari bou county this week, starting Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday, closing roads and prompting alerted drivers to use snow tires or chains. Sheriff Ralph Marriott reported all roads remained open despite slick conditions. The moisture laden snowfall raised holiday spirits amid winter travel cautions.
