Juvenile Arrested in Spur of Car Accessory Theft

A juvenile was arrested Monday night by Grace Del Herb Walters after being seen taking accessories from a car during a burglary spree across three Soda Springs homes in three months. Police recovered items and detained the juvenile, who faces charges pending arraignment in Probate Court.

irkill School hosts a Book Fair this week with students reading and placing orders to raise funds for library books. Books priced 25 cents to 2 dollars are on display and orders will be filled within four days so items arrive in time for Christmas. A special parent day will see staff and volunteers assisting with orders.

4 H Leaders Honored At Annual Recognition Dinner

4 H leaders junior leaders and partners were honored at the annual recognition dinner held Saturday evening November 23 at the Presbyterian Church in Soda Springs. A pot luck dinner served to 86 people marked the largest turnout in years with musical numbers from local students and several piano and vocal solos. Seals and certificates were presented to first year second year and third year leaders across Soda Springs Grace Bancroft and Wayan with names listed for each group.

Santa Claus visits Soda Springs for pre Christmas candy

Santa Claus made his first pre Christmas visit to Soda Springs on Saturday handing out candy sticks and speaking with children. The Merchants Committee of the Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event and Santa will return next Saturday with a similar schedule as last week.

Soda Springs Hosts Two Night Wrestling Invitational

Soda Springs High School will stage an invitational wrestling tournament in the Soda gym on December 6 and 7. Teams from Marsh Valley Bear Lake Preston Malad Star Valley Wyn North Gem Raft River and Soda Springs compete across about 180 matches with sessions at 1 30 p m 7 00 p m Friday and 1 30 p m Saturday. Consolation rounds begin Saturday at 7 00 p m with the championship at 8 00 p m.

Students To Hold Cooked Food Sale At Local Store

The First Grade at Hooper Elementary School sponsors a cooked food sale on Saturday December 7 at Lallatin's Food Town. Mothers of the children provide dishes and proceeds buy a braid rug for the library corner to boost reading incentive, says teacher Mrs Tipton.

Navy Seaman Receives Navy Achievement Medal in Vietnam

Steelworker Second Class Willard J. Cheirrett USN receives the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V for duty with USS Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 53 at Da Nang and Nam Hoa from January 20 to July 20, 1968. He also earns the Vietnam Gallantry Cross for his role in building and defending an Ammi Bridge over the Perfume River at Nam Hoa. Cheirrett began service in July 1967 and completed an eight month Vietnam tour in September 1968.

Caribou County Homemakers host a full day Christmas fair on December 7 at the Idaho Stake Center. Demonstrations cover gift wrapping lighting in the home and candy making with afternoon individual classes in bread flowers tote bags textile painting rug making and crewel embroidery. A candy recipe book is given to attendees and booths feature sewing ideas decorations and gifts.

Open House for Joseph Sargent Honors Grace Plant Leader

An open house honors Joseph N. Sargent on December 7 from 7 30 to 10 p m at the Quarters building, Grace, Utah, marking his retirement after 36 years with Utah Power and Light He began in Grace in 1929 and returned several times, serving as assistant and then superintendent this September. The Sno Drifters met Monday at Monsanto Co conference room with about 40 members. They watched a film titled White Face of Yellow Stone and discussed making club hats.
