Darrell Lallatin appointed chief of Soda Springs police replacing acting chief Herb Walters who resigned to become Caribou County deputy. Walter’s era included Grace and Preston service. Porter left for Monsanto. Department adds radar to curb speeding with about 40 arrests in first week and operates a Junior School Patrol program at the elementary school.
Mrs. Lelia Chester came back Saturday evening from a ten day trip visiting relatives and friends in Spokane and Pasco Washington and Pendleton Oregon. She attended a Public Health Nurses meeting during the trip.
In Preston on November 20 the Grace High School entry Winter Sunset received a superior rating from contest judge Professor Farrell J Bac. Karen Adams was omitted from the original Sun report and is credited for her role in the Grace presentation.
Soda Springs hosts a two night cage jamboree on December 3 and 4 featuring North Gem Pocatello Juniors Firth and the Cardinals. The show opens with North Gem vs Pocatello Juniors and Soda Springs vs Firth on the Cardinal floor.
J Emerson Mabey, chairman of ASCS, said the county office is not ready to sign up participants for programs enacted by new farm laws. Signups for feed grains wheat and cropland adjustment are expected probably early 1968 after details are settled. Farmers will have ample time to file applications before the deadline, with signups lasting about six weeks.
