Ga ia School opening schedule and lunch charges

The Ga ia School plans to start Monday with 8 general and high school sessions. Registration, book pickup, and locker access occur Saturday and Monday. High grade transfers to the grade school are noted. Lunch will cost 5 per meal with monthly payment options and milk reimbursement changes affecting the milk program.

A District of Election trustee for Joint Class A District 150 in Soda Springs will be elected. Nominations closed Septem then Lewis helped set the board term. Filing dates precede the election and term expirations are pending.

Rites Held for Mrs Davids in Chesterfield Chapel

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 0 pm in the Bancroft chapel with Bishop Redford presiding. Organ music by Mrs Whitworth and remarks by Paul Hatch reflected on a life of devoted service. P TA To Launch Membership Drive In Soda Springs Conda

The Soda Springs Conda P TA aims for 100 percent membership this year with a drive starting in September. Parents with children in school are asked to pay a 50 cent fee and join. Officers attended the Fifth District convention in Poca tello with Perry Warner and several others. Pres Warner invited next year’s convention to Soda Springs and the invitation was accepted.

Kindergarten Opens Oct 3 First day set for October

October 3, the first Monday in October, is the first day of kindergarten. Mothers enrolling children must register with listed local women. A child must be five by October 16 to be admitted. Chamber Drive Reaches Halfway to Goal in Soda Springs

The chamber of commerce membership drive stands at slightly more than half the eligible members with pledges and payments over 2400 dollars. Funds will promote Soda Springs in retail trade, industry, and tourism and require a member vote before allocation. Boise reports all Idaho counties meet standards of the Federal Industrial Dispersion Program. A committee to pursue chamber incorporation was appointed with Dr Russell Tigert as chairman, and Ronald Nichols and Aaron Ozburn on the panel.

The Idanha theatre chief Lyle Tuttle and his staff traced months of sound problems to a projector tube called a sound lens. A replacement sound lens has been installed to restore audio.

Harold Pack Grace was among 45 recipients in the Idaho Fish and Game elk hunt drawing for unit 1 in Pocatello conducted August 18. The agency received 1214 complete applications, and Pack was the sole Caribou resident awarded a permit.

Two Shoshone brothers injured in west Soda Springs crash

In Caribou county two brothers from Shoshone were severely cut when their car, driven by Gerald Thorpe, collided with a slowing pickup driven by Fred Qualman on U S 30 near the Talmadge crossing. Both youths were treated at Caribou county hospital and were improving.

Red Cross instructors ask summer swimmers to practice and improve distance to qualify for Red Cross cards. A ladies course is planned for September indoors at Lava with days yet to be set. Caribou County Daughters of the Utah Pioneers hosted a district convention in Soda Springs with meetings at 10 am and 1 pm in the Latter-day Saint church. Caribou County DUP President Hazel Ozburn presided. luncheon was served at noon. Delegates from Bannock Power Butte Bingham Custer and Caribou counties attended. Aileen Sumner and Eva Luke from the Central Camp spoke at both sessions.
