The Ga ia School plans to start Monday with 8 general and high school sessions. Registration, book pickup, and locker access occur Saturday and Monday. High grade transfers to the grade school are noted. Lunch will cost 5 per meal with monthly payment options and milk reimbursement changes affecting the milk program.
A District of Election trustee for Joint Class A District 150 in Soda Springs will be elected. Nominations closed Septem then Lewis helped set the board term. Filing dates precede the election and term expirations are pending.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 0 pm in the Bancroft chapel with Bishop Redford presiding. Organ music by Mrs Whitworth and remarks by Paul Hatch reflected on a life of devoted service. Grandsons Davids Paul Davids and others attended. undertaker Detterfield assisted. local society officials managed the arrangements.
Soda Springs high drills for first game against North Gem on Sept 9 under coach Mel Clark. Returning lettermen lead a new eighth grade batch as a roster is announced. schedule includes games at Bancroft and Paris and at home versus American Falls Grace Fielding Rockland Pocatello Jaycees Westside.
The Soda Springs Conda P TA aims for 100 percent membership this year with a drive starting in September. Parents with children in school are asked to pay a 50 cent fee and join. Officers attended the Fifth District convention in Poca tello with Perry Warner and several others. Pres Warner invited next year’s convention to Soda Springs and the invitation was accepted.
Kiwanis club members finalize arrangements for Kids Day scheduled Saturday September 24 in West Evana. The third annual event features a parade games and a free movie with R J Coppard presenting The Town That Came Back at the weekly meeting.
The Bybee weather station reported a low of 30 degrees last weekend and a high of 88 degrees on Tuesday. Precipitation totaled 52 units for the period.
October 3, the first Monday in October, is the first day of kindergarten. Mothers enrolling children must register with listed local women. A child must be five by October 16 to be admitted. Each child should provide a chair. Edna Lallathin, Soda Springs grade school principal, will supervise the committee.
Delbert Bennett and Grace receive fines totaling 281 dollars with court costs and three days in jail after pleading guilty to drunken and disturbing the peace in Grace Justice of the Peace DeVal Gillett's court. John Van Vleet is cited by officer Jerry Weimar in Grace for failure to signal and resulting accident with 8 dollar fine. State Patrolman Mark Wilson cites J D Johnson in Conds for running a stop sign with 8 dollar fine and costs.
Mrs Ralph Hogan and her husband are visiting Lake City with plans to spend a few days at a local hotel and visit her parents.
In cooperation with the parent teachers association a district education conference is set for Wednesday August 31 at 8 p m at Soda Springs high school The agenda feeds into the governor conference on September 26 27 at Boise Six major questions guide the discussion including school aims organization building needs teacher supply financing and public interest Heber Lau and Harry Sorensen are Caribou representatives on the governor s education advisory council and meetings may be arranged for Grace and Bancroft
The chamber of commerce membership drive stands at slightly more than half the eligible members with pledges and payments over 2400 dollars. Funds will promote Soda Springs in retail trade, industry, and tourism and require a member vote before allocation. Boise reports all Idaho counties meet standards of the Federal Industrial Dispersion Program. A committee to pursue chamber incorporation was appointed with Dr Russell Tigert as chairman, and Ronald Nichols and Aaron Ozburn on the panel.
The Idanha theatre chief Lyle Tuttle and his staff traced months of sound problems to a projector tube called a sound lens. A replacement sound lens has been installed to restore audio.
Harold Pack Grace was among 45 recipients in the Idaho Fish and Game elk hunt drawing for unit 1 in Pocatello conducted August 18. The agency received 1214 complete applications, and Pack was the sole Caribou resident awarded a permit.
Fish Northwest construction firm has set up offices in the Laurigon Wallace building at South Main Street to handle the current section of the natural gas line project.
Mr and Mrs Dale Dunn and their children spent last Thursday in Ogden enjoying a brief family trip and local sights.
A. R. Hopkins, a longtime observer, predicts Caribou county wheat and barley will set records this season. Harvesting of wheat is underway and barley is ripening. quality and yields are described as high, with risks from late season weather noted.
An emergency Red Cross drive opens in the county to support flood disaster areas. County ARC chair Jay Cragan notes the chapter was asked to seek contributions after President Eisenhower's Monday appeal. Mrs. J. E. Garvin oversees gifts. donations go to disaster relief efforts already exhausting a 5 million dollar fund for this year's crises.

Mr and Mrs Frank Sibbett Napa California left after visiting with Sam Sibbett Mia Del Laavelli and family. The Sibbetts plan a vacation in Utah and Arizona before returning home.
In Caribou county two brothers from Shoshone were severely cut when their car, driven by Gerald Thorpe, collided with a slowing pickup driven by Fred Qualman on U S 30 near the Talmadge crossing. Both youths were treated at Caribou county hospital and were improving.
Red Cross instructors ask summer swimmers to practice and improve distance to qualify for Red Cross cards. A ladies course is planned for September indoors at Lava with days yet to be set. Registration with Faye Evans or Doris Balls. Admission price is the pool fee. car pools expected. Other local notices report residents moving and visiting Idaho Falls this week.
Caribou County Daughters of the Utah Pioneers hosted a district convention in Soda Springs with meetings at 10 am and 1 pm in the Latter-day Saint church. Caribou County DUP President Hazel Ozburn presided. luncheon was served at noon. Delegates from Bannock Power Butte Bingham Custer and Caribou counties attended. Aileen Sumner and Eva Luke from the Central Camp spoke at both sessions.
