Ray Roberts bagged a 200 pound brown bear with a bow in the nd Creek area on Sunday. No kill was made in the area. He is a five year member of the Arbou Field Archers.
The City Council approved building permits including Petersen Eater for a home on lot 111 Mountain View subdivision and Roy E Kent for a slotk 2 project at Lakeview. Ralph Tolman obtained a shed permit for Mountain View Trailer Court, with several local residents in attendance.
The Farmers Land and Irrigation Co seeks bids August 13 for a dam and reservoir on Soda Creek above Hooper Spring to store 2500 acre feet. Russell Stoker is consulting engineer. Rae Sorensen presides over the company. 4000 acres would receive added irrigation. a 40 year loan from Farmers Home Administration funds the project costing about 100000 dollars.
Opening date set for Monday August 30 with 8 55 a m start and 2 30 p m dismissal. All grades attend first day. Registration for grades 9 12 in main building Friday August 27 7 p m Juniors and Seniors Saturday August 28 7 p m Freshmen and Sophomores. Mrs Harriet Reeves and two children visited the Reeves in Soda Springs.
The Caribou County Fair and Rodeo kickoff today features the Junior Parade at 11 30 a m and the Little Buckaroo Rodeo at 8 p m. King and Queen of the Junior Rodeo are Kay Dean Smith and Toni Batholome with attendants Richard Lamb and Tami Bells. Halter judging and senior rodeo events follow across Friday and Saturday with a floated parade, cow cutting, and a Fat Stock Sale. Admission is 1 50 for adults and 1 00 for children 12 and under.
All children who did not attend preschool registration day in May must attend at Soda Springs Elementary School on Tuesday August 17 from 9 00 a m to 11 30 a m Bring birth certificates Children entering First Grade this fall must have preschool physical examinations prior to September 1st as required by the school district.
Seven young county residents enter the 1966 Caribou County Queen contest to be held Friday afternoon at the fairgrounds. Finalists include Jo Ann Allen Grace Grace Grace and other Bancroft Thatcher Soda Springs and Grace residents with judging based on personality horsemanship appearance and horse and rider behavior.
Soda Springs Jaycees announce a free Vehicle Safety Check on August 29 1965 with Gary Windley as chair and Albert Foster Ray Allen as co chairs. A mechanic will inspect brakes lights signals steering tires exhaust wipers mirrors horns and seat belt usage for long trips and local travel.
The Fifth Annual Soda Springs Invitational Pony League begins Friday with 12 teams from Ashton Rupert Preston Malad Blackfoot Bancroft Rexburg Rigby St Anthony Soda Springs Smithfield and Ogden Utah. First round games run Friday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with finals Sunday at Soda Springs.
A U S District Court in Boise issued a temporary injunction prohibiting the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers from picketing construction work at the El Paso Natural Gas Co. chemical plant near Soda Springs. The order, granted on motion by the NLRB, aims to settle an unfair labor practices complaint filed by Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. against the union after other craft unions refused to cross the picket line, disrupting the project. The Henry Leavitt family reunion was held at Lava Hot Springs Sunday, August 1.
