Joint Efforts Lead to Two Drug Arrests in Soda Springs

State Narcotics officials say the arrests mark the first of their kind in Soda Springs. Cates and Law were arraigned and released on $2,500 bond.

Public Meeting on Waterfowl Seasons for 1975 in Idaho

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will hold a public meeting on August 7 at 7 30 P M in the Idaho First National Bank Building in Pocatello. The meeting will present proposed 1975 upland game and fur bearer recommendations and the field data behind them. Attendees may offer comments and recommendations on waterfowl seasons and regulations, with notes forwarded to the Idaho Fish and Game Commission for final decision.

Cowboys Set For Grace Night Rodeo At Caribou County Fair

Top cowboys travel to Grace August 8 and 9 for the Caribou County Fair rodeo under the PRCA banner. Events include bareback saddle bronc bull riding calf roping steer wrestling and team roping with a $996 purse and $20 to $30 entry fees. Reigning champions and economic impact figures are noted alongside details on PRCA membership and qualifying routes. Stephens Brothers of Middleton Idaho will produce the Grace rodeo.

Organ Recital at Caribou Memorial Nursing Home

The Caribou Memorial Nursing Home in Soda Springs receives a new electric Wurlitzer organ via the Jack Gibbs memorial fund. On August 12 at 7 PM a public organ recital will be held with guest artists opening the program.

Monsanto Fund Donates 400 To Red Cross

Monsanto Fund employees contributed 400 to the Caribou American Red Cross in 1975, the largest single donation to the local chapter. The check arrived by mail from the Monsanto Fund, and the Red Cross thanked the fund for its support in the 1975 drive.

Deer Underpasses Planned for Fish Creek Road Project

The Fish Creek Cutoff near Lava Hot Springs will include deer underpasses with drift fences to guide mule deer across the highway. The 2.8 mile section costs about 2.6 million dollars with three underpasses planned and subsequent phases including more structures and paving.

Pony League Action Closes Little League Games Begin

Washington Terrace Ogden captured the Pony League championship with 12 teams in the tournament. Bear River Tremonton finished second and Smithfield earned the consolation prize. Terry Anderson of Soda Springs was the MVP, batting .444 with five steals, two home runs and 20 strikeouts in a game. Only Soda Springs loss was 9 6 to Washington Terrace. Dan Lewis lauded all games and umpire Ted Larsen will also umpire upcoming Little League games. Twelve teams compete including Soda Springs Malad Rexburg Chubbuck Salt Lake City St Anthony Afton Montpelier Logan Jerome. Thursday schedule lists six games from 9 am to 7 pm.

Environmental impact statement draft under interagency review

William J. Schneider leads a task force drafting an EIS with informal input from BLM USFS and Idaho Fish and Game. A rough draft is complete and will be amplified, aimed for early December filing with the CEQ followed by formal review and hearings after filing. The EIS content remains tentative at this stage.
