Limited Fire Closure Enforced Across Six National Forests
A limited fire closure begins August 9 at 12:01 am for Boise Caribou Challis Payette Salmon and Sawtooth National Forests. Travelers must carry a shovel 28 inches long with a 6 inch blade one hand ax and one buck et or water container of one gallon or more. The rule does not apply at improved campgrounds picnic areas or on highways. The closure remains until rescinded by the regional office in Ogden Utah.

Bear River Water Users Call for Division Talks
Agricultural Bear River water users from Idaho Utah and Wyoming met in Preston Idaho at the Franklin County Courthouse on Monday August 4 and unanimously urged authorized negotiating representatives from the three states to meet promptly to negotiate the division of unconsumed Bear River flows for state legislative ratification and climate use plans. State Highway engineer Tom Thomas of Soda Springs reports 87 percent completion for the Second South highway gutter project with 66 percent of time elapsed. Neilsen and Miller have won Local Improvement District No. 12 in Lode Springs and begun work.
