Plans for Caribou County Fair outline opening Thursday with exhibits judged starting Friday. Highlights include junior events at 11 30 am, livestock judging, a Friday open class judging, a Chuck Wagon breakfast, and performances from Grace Men’s Association and the Fat Stock Sale in the arena.
In Salt Lake City three unions voted to approve a new contract after talks with We Inc. The pact raises wages by 10 cents per hour, adjusts salaries and job classifications, and changes work rules. Paul D. Hoefling of IHC called negotiations sincere and satisfactory, averting a potential work stoppage.
The Great Yellowstone Savings & Loan Association opens its new Sody Springs office Friday August 2 from 9 am to 7 pm with free refreshments and a free gift for new accounts. The Montpelier home office and Soda Springs location are Idaho regulated. Local residents are invited to visit to learn about 32 percent earnings on deposits and long term, low interest loans for homes and real estate.
Soda Springs All Stars were eliminated from the Wood River Little League Invitational after a 13 to 3 loss to Twin Falls in Hailey Sun Valley. Earlier Soda Springs beat Carey 17 to 8 and Wendell 8 to 1. Twin Falls won the title with St Anthony second and Malad in consolation.

The city library announced a new shipment featuring adult titles and best sellers. Highlights include Potomac by Thane, Major Themes of Robert Frost, The Quality of Murder, and If I Owe Russia Bob Hope, with Librarian Mrs L E Crawford noting several best seller picks available locally.
A small fire broke out last Wednesday at the Dale Avers residence on Brd N in Soda Springs. The blaze started near the southwest bedroom and was quickly extinguished with minor damage reported.

Attendees should bring a covered dish and table service, and those needing transport meet at the church at 9:30 am. No Sunday school in Soda Springs this week.

Montpelier meeting hears Lloyd Dunn of the Bear River Protective Committee advocate Region 4 Idaho water projects. The scheme would allocate 86 000 dollars to build small reclamation works and raise local taxes, with water storage and potential federal authorization amid Utah and Idaho bear river interests. Governor Smylie endorses state financed development, citing Utah precedent with Woodruff Narrows and Porcupine dams. The committee lists members from Bear County and neighboring counties.
