Developer quits hotel project plan for Mission San Juan Capistrano
The City Council hearing on developer Bill Griffiths plan for a four star 124 room Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano was canceled after Griffith withdrew his application. The move leaves open whether South Coast Investors will pursue Plaza Banderas, a 124 room hotel and mixed use project, or another path for the 3 acre site at 26891 Ortega Highway next to the mission. The Plaza Banderas plan remains intact via a development agreement extended through August 2017, while Inn at the Mission was a revamped version of that project.

Private funding dispute over La Pata Avenue opening
