Taste of Swallows heats up for 58th parade
About 280 partygoers gathered Feb at San Juan Hills Golf Club for Taste of San Juan, feeding 20 restaurants to raise $9,000 for the 2016 Swallows Day Parade organized by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. Spokesman Jim Taylor praised the smoother layout and shorter lines as preparations continue toward the March 12 parade. A kids pet parade is set for Saturday at Los Rios Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an entry fee of $5 and a chance for the grand prize winner and pet to join the Swallows Day Parade. South OC water agencies meet December use-cut targets
El Toro Water District and San Clemente surpassed their 24 percent December targets, while most South County agencies fell short. State Board data show El Toro at 27.4 percent cut and San Clemente at 25.6 percent, as Gov. Brown’s 25 percent statewide target governs June 2015 to February 2013 benchmarks. El Toro credits a $35 million recycled water expansion for lower potable-use.
