A Christmas Ride That Built Family Tradition
Anne Batty recalls a yearly holiday excursion that began in poverty and became a cherished family ritual. They drove through San Clemente neighborhoods to view lights, sang carols, and ended with hot chocolate by the tree, a memory that endured as generations carried on the practice. Her piece reflects on how traditions shape identity and provide security and renewal at Christmas time.
