Capistrano Valley fires Utterback as boys and girls coach
Darren Utterback, 47, longtime Capistrano Valley volleyball coach and 2009 OC Varsity coach of the year honoree, was dismissed from both boys and girls programs amid parent complaints. He led the girls team since 2004 and guided the boys to a Sea View League title and a CIF-SS Division 2 quarterfinal finish this spring. Astor and athletic director declined comment. Utterback says a few parents pushed for the move and that he is seeking other coaching opportunities.
