J A Welsh principal of Canarsa school reports the death of his father Richard Welsh aged 73 at Moorefild Ontario after a period of illness. He leaves six sons and one daughter all living in Western Canada except one son at home.

Jensen Wins Final Curling Match to Lead Standings

Jensen defeats Cumming in the last game of the present competition to take the lead and prize. Pleasance and Woods tie for second. Johnston and Cumming face off for last place and the saurkeraut prize. Standings show Harvey 5–6, Roberteca 5–8, Pleasance 6–2, Reid 2–6, Cohen 6–8, Woods 1–7.

Wadena Dramatic Club Stages The Gilded Fool at Empire Theatre

The Wadena Dramatic Club directed by Mr. Harvey Hearn performed The Gilded Fool at the Empire Theatre on Monday January 18. The two hour drama impressed with strong acting especially Mr. Hearn in the title role and a well chosen cast. Despite a sparse audience the production was praised for artistry and the director’s handling of the complex material.

Seed Grain Aid Limited to Small Region

Dominion Lands Office reports no change in seed grain applications for non patented homesteads. Government will aid only a select few, restricting eligibility to a small southwestern area including Moose Jaw. J. J. Miller of Dalmeny had applied for seed grain to replant after drought losses. Fighting Family Sends Five Sons to War From Winnipeg Home

The Kerr family at 555 Broadway Winnipeg has six of eight men serving with the Canadian contingent at Salisbury Plain and a seventh preparing to leave. Sons John James Peter, son-in law Fred McMillan and friends W Johnson and G Williams have joined or prepared to join. Peter, 17, left for Valcartier as a corporal. brothers joined the One Hundredth regiment band. Will remains home, married and a father, set to join the Seventy ninth Cameron Highlanders. Fred McMillan was lieutenant at Maple Street fire hall and serves with the Eleventh Field Ambulance. Johnson serves with the Ninetieth regiment. Williams with the Seventy-ninth.

Miss A De Lary of the Homemakers Clubs of Saskatchewan reports 424 families received clothing and about 100 more lack supplies. Over 24 000 pounds have been distributed at Reging and by local clubs.
