Canora's second big bonspiel opens Monday with prizes totaling $800 and trophies valued at $300. Local skips scramble for rinks as entries close at six with draw set for eight. Prizes and displays at Robertson's drug store and Imperial hotel bar signal a strong event ahead.
The First Prize includes a Silver Cup worth 100.00 donated by Canova Milling Company and four Ladies Gold Pendants valued at 100.00 donated by Mayor Korvin. Additional prizes include four Hurling Coats 50.00 and four upholstered chairs 40.00. Fourth prize offers four pearl tie pins 20.00 donated by Canora citizens.
Silver Cup valued at 10.00 donated by J D Robertson M P P Canora. Four gold Brooches worth 100.00. Second prize four cut glass Vases 40.00 and four Curling Shoes 28.60 donated by Canora citizens. Four Big Bens 12.00 donated by Canora lab.
Four gold jewel cases valued at 40.00 donated by D W Nichols of Winnipeg and Dr E M Vesey of Canora. four Berry Bowls valued 21.00 donated by the citizens of Canora. Four gold lockets valued 1400, Northern Lumber Co. Silver cap valued 75.00 donated by Northern Lumber Co. and four Ger Bebe Diesbes valued 100. Condensed details include Canora Curling Club auction and assorted Browies.
The Canora Curling Club donates ebony hair brushes valued at 220.00. The gift is presented by E. H. Griffiths Esq of Canora.
Four gold watches worth 100 dollars each are donated by the Hotelkeepers of Canora for open event prizes. Four curling sweaters valued at 40 dollars each are given by Geo Houtiller of the Acme Glove Works in Montreal. Four skating boots valued at 16 dollars each are donated by J Golman of Canora. Four turkeys valued at 10 dollars each are donated by Spandier and Walter of Canora.
Four gold Latkets valued at $30.00 were donated by the E Co of Winnipeg. The donation also included four Peterson Pipes and four Sub- items.
Special notice notes the caps may transfer to the vessel winning the contest for a third consecutive year, making the same ship the owner if it secures three straight wins.

In Canora on Tuesday February 17 a daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Jas Coutts. In Canora on Sunday February 21 1914 a daughter arrived to Mr and Mrs E Lawrence. At Yorkton on Monday February 23 a son was born to Mr and Mrs T P Knowell.
Two Canora curling teams departed Tuesday to compete in the Yorkton bonspiel. The squads included F. W. Schram, O. Spandier, E. H. Woods, W. Johnston as foursome and W. J. Britton, F. Robertson, D. Wedderspoon, G. A. Blakely with W. Britton as skip.
Special School Board meeting in Town Orfoe on February 23 1914 with D Stephen chair and trustees Jorgenson and Fyhri. They authorize chairman and secretary treasurer to negotiate a $10 000 loan with Union Bank of Canada for 1914 expenses and approve the resolution governing its terms. Carried. Meeting adjourned.
At the February 17 1914 Board of Trade meeting in the Town Office a priority on securing winter water for the Waddell Memorial Hospital was set. Directors proposed sourcing from Gelatiuk farm wells half a mile away and formed a committee to assess cost handling and required amounts and report to the Town Council at the next session for funding.
Presbyterians and Methodists list Sunday services at Meadowdale Crooked Hill Canora and Graham's ball with Sunday school times and a lent plan. English Church will hear Rev Hinton East from Yorkton with prayers and Holy Communion plus regular litany and choir practice details.

The Highway Commission outlines plans for a 1914 Road Drag Competition open to rural municipality councils. Entries due by June 1 1914. roads 2 to 4 miles long. prizes total up to 200 400 dollars per district with a national championship prize of 400. Eligible roads will be inspected for upkeep traffic and soil conditions. signs will mark entered roads.
The Canora Live Stock Company Ltd held its second regular meeting at the Town Halls. Directors fixed shares at 100 dollars with five percent cash and outlined plans to secure foreign subscribers, extend credit via the Bank of Commerce, and purchase cattle and hogs for members at cost.
Regular meeting of the Canora Live Stock Company Limited was held at the Town Office on Wednesday February 25 with President Coutts presiding. Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. By laws were read clause by clause with amendments. By laws were adopted and the number of directors increased to seven. Directors nominated and elected included Messrs Catey Gabora and Malaguire Rees and others.
