The city council awarded excavation of the water main trench from Second Street to the reservoir above Kenley's gardens to John Foley of Denver at 13.33 cents per linear foot. The 4700 foot route runs along Main Street, Soda Point, up the hillside to the reservoir at a four foot depth. Foley expects to start within a few days.

Jim Lynn, a Black man convicted of first degree murder for the May 14 Pueblo killing of 14 year old Sarah James and wounding her mother, Julia James, will be hanged at the state penitentiary this week. He has remained in solitary confinement since June 15 and accepted his fate without appeal after a brief trial. The Pueblo mob violence surrounding the arrest preceded his transfer to Colorado Springs for safety. The execution will make him the second Black man hanged in Colorado, following William H. Davis in 1891.
