Delegates Return From Meeting At Springs
Delegates from Canon City Women's clubs returned Saturday from the fourteenth annual State Federation meeting at Colorado Springs. Mrs. A. L. McLain was elected second vice president, nominated by Mrs. Sarah Platt Decker of Denver and won unanimously. The state federation has long included Canon City clubs, with members serving in various roles. The scholarship committee, chaired by Mrs. T. M. Harding, reported total funds of 5993.50 since inception, with 2350 loaned to enable self support. In twelve months the committee handled 1509.84 and loaned 1505.50 to twenty three women pursuing higher education. To date 25 girls have repaid loans, and 26 more seek funding. Recent pledges total 512.20 for future loans. A Denver student earned a college education through the program and now teaches at Columbia University and in Pittsburgh, illustrating the program’s impact. The night school at Dodds Commercial College opens Oct 1, 7 to 9, for those seeking evening study. 66t3
