Notable Canon City Snowfall of March 17 1892
Growths protected by the snow were not injured and the crop was unusually prolific. From March 17, 1892, until last spring, the fruit crop remained uninjured by the cold. Vegetation ahead of the big snow sixteen years ago shows the current frost danger is minimal. The March 17 1892 snowfall remains one of Canon City district history’s most notable events.
