The rector and vestry announce the new church at Harrison avenue and Eighth street will hold divine service on Sunday June 28. Bishop Charles Olmsted and Rev. W Betan and E A Wessell plan a wagon journey from Canon City to Yellowstone Park via Denver and Fort Collins. They will stop briefly in Routt County for hunting and fishing and live on the wagon as they travel. After visiting Yellowstone Park they may head to Southern Montana and expect to return to Canon City about October 1. Behan is known to Canon City readers. Westell has worked for the Record eight months. The trip aims for health benefits and enjoyable travel.
On St John s Day Wednesday June 24 a well attended picnic was held on Sell s island in Canon City. Masons from Cripple Creek Victor Goldfield Florence Coal Creek and local lodges attended with families for a basket dinner. Distinguished visitors included Gov Peabody Judge Thomas Grand Master Dean and other grand officers.

Fifty or more visiting relatives and others attended the Mount St. Scholastica Academy closing exercises Thursday night. The program featured Jeptha and His Daughter cantata, gold medals and diplomas for graduates Riley, Cree, and Bina Riede, a elocution contest won by Schwackenberg of Pueblo, and a musical program with the academy art exhibit. Rev Fr O'Ryan of St Leon’s Denver gave the closing address as the academy’s prospects look bright.
Friday night at the court house a board of directors and six incorporators were chosen for a proposed new Canon City hospital. Seven directors were nominated with a tie for the seventh seat, leaving selection to the six elected. Incorporators named include Mayor Coulter J J Cone M S Bailey Mrs G A Baker Mrs F A Raynolds and C A Biggs.
