The Canon City Colorado City Council read an ordinance in full at a regular meeting held June 16 1902 and ordered publication as required by law.
Ordinance No. 235 sets the city sewer system standards including main and house sewers, licensing for drain layers, aging requirements, grease traps, venting and piping rules, trap placements, and inspections. It mandates licensed plumbers, bonds, and detailed construction norms for private and public sewer work.
The text outlines brick construction with eight inch walls plastered in hydraulic cement, and sets fines from 25 to 300 dollars for violators with daily offenses count as separate. It assigns the city engineer to prepare two district sewer maps detailing mains, laterals, manholes, and Y branches with precise measurements. It also advertises White's Cream Vermifuge for infants and a local sale at Hunter Palmer's.
A testimonial describes chronic indigestion and systemic distress alleviated by Ripans Tabules and Ballard's Snow Liniment. The writer recalls twelve years of discomfort, swollen feet, brittle nails, and relief from neuralgic and rheumatic pains after treatment. An Illinois Central agent from Milan, Tennessee endorses the liniment for rheumatism and backache.
