Carson City hotel owners move to form The Carson City Hotel Company with John A. Armor as president and manager of Strathmore and St Cloud. Free bus service to depots to be abolished, dining shifts to European plan at St Cloud, Strathmore to be main hotel with shared laundry and staff.
The Colorado electric plant in this city runs more than usual to supply Cripple Creek with power. A water powered mine there now uses electricity from this plant and streetcar lines in Cripple Creek are powered by it. It is easier to deliver electricity than haul coal to Cripple Creek.
G. T. Cline, formerly of First National Bank Colorado Springs, is hired by Fremont County Bank. He previously served as assistant cashier at Sabina’s leading bank in Oklahoma. With twelve years in banking, he is added to handle growing business. His wife and child will soon join him to establish a home.
Last Saturday marked the fiftieth birthday of Dr B E Hart pastor of the First Baptist church. The surprise party at his home on Nod Ave drew over fifty Baptist attendees. Refreshments included apples sandwiches coffee pickles and cakes. Miss Hart sang and duets with her father while Mrs Allen also performed. A patent leather rocker was presented to the pastor by the congregation.
In December two smooth solicitors canvassed Cafion selling magazines at deep discounts. Munsey's Ladies' Home Journal Saturday Evening Post and others offered as low as 1.25 to 2.25 dollars with advance payment. Receipts name a firm and address but the post office stamp reads no such party at address. months later no word or shipments.
A recent visitor to Cafion City said he had traveled widely but never saw a more beautiful place. He noted that one must walk or drive through the residence area to fully appreciate Cafion City’s charm.
E C Bacot, manager of the Colorado Electric Power plant in this city for nearly two years, will resign to join a new Duluth Wisconsin power concern in a role similar to his current one. He plans to depart next month to supervise the new plant's layout.
Last Thursday a new body named the Carson City Mining District was formed to cover the eastern half of Fremont county excluding Greenhorn. Directors include C. L. Harrington W R Smythe T B Coulter M S Bailey L D Westfall Phillip Griffith and KK M Ragsdale with Harrington president Smythe secretary and Abright treasurer. The group adopted a resolution asking Congress to define a legal placer claim for oil gas asphaltum on public land, addressing uncertainty in current placer law.
The Farmers Institute opens in the city court house today with free admission and plans to grow each year. Tomorrow features a full program including music, talks on fruit growing, honey bees, apple cultivation for profit, veterinary science relation to public health, gardening, weather, and plant diseases with lantern illustrations.
