Driveway plan eyed for old state ditch through Royal Gorge
Canon City business leaders push to convert the old state ditch grade into a public scenic driveway up the Royal Gorge. The plan, urged by the Merchants association and civic improvement committee, would require minor repairs and public funds but promises tourism gains and a lasting city landmark. The project would complement an intended electric railway and recall the Skyline Drive built with prison labor and local support.
