Prisoner Jumps From Train in Royal Gorge Escape

Geo H Grenell alias James L Burner, being taken to the penitentiary for grand larceny, jumped from Denver and Rio Grande train No 16 after being unshackled for a toilet stop. He fled into the hills but was captured near Parkdale after sustaining a head wound and bruises. Sheriff Hobson and Under Sheriff Chete lat pursued clues to Salida and Canon City but the escape ended with Dan Davis detaining Grenell until authorities arrived.

Dr Craven Stricken With Paralysis At Home

Dr T H Craven, age seventy and a Fremont county pioneer, suffered a paralysis attack at his home at 2002 East Main on Tuesday night. Early today he sat up briefly but remains critically ill as doctors attribute the condition to a brain blood clot.
