The Montezuma property at Barnes City in the Hayden Creek district shows ongoing tunneling on the Montezuma shaft and Old Spanish workings. Hearing Held in Sullivan v. Denver Gas Co Case Continued

The preliminary hearing before Judge M. S. Bailey was continued to September 11 in the case Dennis Sullivan versus The Denver Gas Co. Denver attorney Frenaff represented the plaintiff and Watterman appeared for receiver Doherty. Calbreth was barred from intervening but may testify as a friend of the court at September 1.

New Canon City oil venture forms Union Oil Mining and Development

A Canon City based company plans extensive oil development near Florence, on 480 acres along the C C and C C rail line four miles from Canon City and near the Florence wells. Officers are L F Collins president and L D Westfall vice president with J H Frey secretary treasurer.

Canon City Hosts Victorious Knights of Pythias

Canon City welcomed Victor Company No. 8 of the Knights of Pythias after their San Francisco win as world champion drill team. Rain dampened public reception but Knights greeted the visitors at Castle Hall with a wholesome supper and speeches. Col. Sherman Bell and Capt. Nai lor led the company during the homecoming event.

Canon City Merchants Association Seeks legislative cooperation

The Canon City Merchants Association urges lawmakers to act on proposed changes in state laws and asks cooperation from citizens. The association has appointed committees to present the resolution to political conventions in the district and requests active support.

Enthusiastic Meeting of Court Fremont A N of F

Court Fremont of the Ancient Order of Foresters held a large meeting last night with many members present. Deputy High Chief Ranger W. E. Freeman of Denver spoke and the court resolved to raise membership to over 100, aligning with state standards.

Orchard on Lincoln Park and other areas show heavy fruit loads with trees reaching capacity to bear large crops. Early indications point to a very good year as several trees fruit in quantities for the first time, boosting overall output.

D. C. Green stores peaches and apples for a major state fair showing in Colorado. Joe Goodnight plans a corn display and a possible premium or a spirited race to win.
