Miss Eugenia Goold a 29 year old nurse from South Canon dies in an avalanche on the Twin Sisters range above the Sangre de Cristo mountains after a walk with Adolphus Latham a Howard ranchman. Latham carries her body 300 feet to snow and assists in summoning help. Coroner Whitmore rules death accidental and no inquest.

Prison guard identifies dead inmate known as Yellow Kid

Captain Cleghorn of Cripple Creek penitentiary morgue identified Walter Carpenter nicknamed Yellow Kid who died near Cripple Creek. Carpenter, paroled years earlier, attempted burglary at Pueblo and evaded capture. A Chicago woman’s letter provided a clue linking him to the Pueblo case as officials request a photo and full description to finalize identification. Carpenter served over five years and was noted for good conduct after release.

Copper Prince mine ore yields 29 copper and 6 oz silver

A car load of ore from Copper Prince Mining & Milling at Red Gulch seven miles north of Cotopaxi was delivered to the United States smelter showing 29 percent copper and six ounces of silver per ton. At current copper prices the load is about 52.20 per ton or 1566 for the car. The Copper Prince is a pioneer Red Gulch producer and has recently sent several consignments to the smelter with strong copper values.

Mount St Scholastical Academy Rebuilt After Foundation Failure

The architect reports the Mount St Scholastical Academy building must be dismantled from the front and northeast as investigations reveal improper foundation work. A 328 foot deep dig to solid gravel is required and an underground water stream under the corner contributed to structural weakness. Restoring the building to its intended beauty and security will cost at least $5,000 due to the original contractor's insufficiency.
