Mass Protest On Coalfields Rally Amid Mine Idle Day

A rally of 20 clergymen businessmen and union leaders from Sydney and Newcastle protested for shorter hours better pay and full employment as miners in the Muswellbrook to Wallarah region stopped work for the day. Ku Klux Activity Reported in Britain

London dispatch says a Ku Klux Klan cross blazed near the rectory of Rev. Hugh Artus in Arley Warwick after he preached racial tolerance. The cross of elm bows soaked in paraffin was set alight at midnight.

Train Falls Into Newark Bay. Dozens Dead in New Jersey Crash

Algerians Attack French Minister in Paris

Gunmen believed to be Algerians attempted to assassinate Jacques Soustelle, minister for information, in Paris. Five bystanders wounded as assailants fled along the Champs Elysees. one suspect arrested and police detained others amid chaotic chase and gunfire.
