Lynx engine donated to Cooma Lions Club by veteran air engineer
Harold Affleck, senior aircraft surveyor for New South Wales Department of Civil Aviation, presented an Armstrong Siddeley Lynx engine to the Cooma Lions Club. The 33 year old spare engine, once part of the Fleet of Five Avro aircraft from Australian National Airways, helped operate Sydney to Brisbane and Sydney to Melbourne routes beginning in 1930. After the Southern Cloud loss and liquidation, Affleck and Qantas restored the engine, and it is now in working order for display.
