Boy dies in Queanbeyan sand mishap on Lom Road
Saturday morning in Queanbeyan, a boy identified as Steven died while playing in a sand deposit near Lom Road. He was reportedly missing around 10 30 am and a search of the site with men from the area followed. At about 11 am a chute at the base of a bin was opened and Steven fell out. The incident appeared linked to a fall from the fallenload.

Canberra man lost after boat overturns
A Canberra man is believed drowned after a 12 foot aluminium boat capsized on the Murrumbidgee River near Hume Park about 16 miles from Yass. Peter John Hughes age 27 of Page disappeared in 30 to 40 feet of discoloured water after three companions were rescued by a passing boat. Police divers searched the river as the cold water hampered recovery efforts.

Two escape from police cells in Queanbeyan incident
