De Beers historic mine to reopen in Kimberley
The De Beers mine at Kimberley, famed as the birthplace of South Africa's diamond industry, is reopening after 55 years. A new treatment plant and a long overland conveyor system will move 500 tons of blue ground per minute along an 8315 foot single-flight line, with full-scale mining planned for 1965.
