In the Lotien area Japanese forces press to sever Chinese lines near Liuho with tanks and artillery. Chinese admit some outposts fallen yet insist the main line holds. About 100,000 Japanese mass near the iron belt from Chapei to Liohu. the Eternal Peace bridge changes hands again.
The Labour Council prepares a major public meeting in Sydney to push a boycott of Japanese goods. No detailed plan yet. Waterside Workers' Federation, likely first to be asked, is not affiliated and would not comment.
Weather prospects for Epsom Day at Randwick tomorrow show showers throughout the day with steady rain tonight. If rain is not heavy overnight the track should be in good condition tomorrow. its sandy surface can absorb rain, and an hour of sun tomorrow morning would improve the track.
