The ceremony for Princess Margaret and Armstrong-Jones drew 2,000 in the abbey and millions watching on TV. The Archbishop blessed the couple as the Queen Mother wept and the crowd cheered. Guards controlled a 200,000 strong outside crowd amid the royal procession and balcony appearance.

A young Canberra couple waited in the Mall by Buckingham Palace at 4 pm yesterday to glimpse the Royal wedding procession. They spoke of the event with excitement and some emotion as onlookers gathered for the momentous occasion.
Crowds numbering hundreds of thousands line the route from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in bright sun. Dawn crowds of 12 deep along The Mall sleep in parks to secure views as decorative arches and roses frame the procession area. Princess Margaret wears a white silk organza gown by Norman Hartnell with a fitted bodice and long sleeves.
The 28,000 ton liner Orcades berthed at Tilbury Docks from Australia ahead of the royal wedding. The ship played Get Me to the Church on Time over its public address system at each port of call since leaving Sydney, realizing it would arrive only a day before the ceremony.

Prime Minister Menzies will head the Australian delegation to the sixth State Council of Ministers in Washington from May 31 to June 3. Acting External Affairs Minister Sir Garfield Barwick announced the attendance, with Vice Admiral Sir Roy Dowling joining as military adviser for SEATO. The ministers will review the Communist threat and SEATO budget.
