Brigade Saves Home At Queanbeyan

A saucepan of fat overheated and caught fire in a Queanbeyan home yesterday morning. Mrs G Feplin left the fat on the stove and went to another part of the house. The fire brigade arrived within minutes after the alarm and doused the blaze, but kitchen furniture and equipment were destroyed. For a time the fire threatened to spread through the rooms.

Labour Backs Boycott of South Africa Goods

The Australian Federal Parliamentary Labour Party backs an ACTU boycott targeting South African goods. Leader Calwell urges maximum pressure to end apartheid, arguing worldwide positive action is needed. the caucus vote was by show of hands. The ACTU has circulated a boycott list to all unions.
