Australia recorded 7,220 divorces last year up 347 from 1961. Eighty percent of petitions cited under the Matrimonial Causes Act which began Feb 1, 1961. NSW saw 119 divorces, Victoria 1615, Queensland 9200, with desertion and adultery the top grounds in the December quarter.
The U S House approved a bill to grant Sir Winston Churchill honorary American citizenship by proclamation. The vote was 377 in favor with 21 against and five abstentions. The measure faces Senate approval before President Kennedy can issue the proclamation.
